The facade building at 29 Matīsa Street was built in 1935 according to the project of the architect Teodoras Hermanovskis. The architectural heritage of T. Hermanovska is significant in the history of Latvian architecture. The architect is known as the founder of the functionalist style and the initiator of the ideas of the Bauhaus German functionalist design school. The building was built in the functionalist style as a brick tenement house with shops on the 1st floor and has preserved the original volume and facade architecture to this day.
